I tried both everquest and WoW and was very dissapointed. I gave them a decent amount of attention and it is just way too toonish for me. IMO

I personally think WOW owns GW as far as player choices, game play, and other things.....Not gonna explain..For those who have played WOW should know..

GW..it's a good game if you're new @ it......Gets boring very quickly.. After I reached lvl20, did all the quests I could, pvp,... i stopped playing for several weeks....Just too boring.... And when i do log in the game...I'm mainly just there to chat with guild buddies....

This is what I and probably most players will do with a new character:
1. Quickly finished a few quests in pre...
2. BOOM! Searing...
3. Pay (if u got gold) someone to run u to droks..
4. lvl, lvl, lvl... by the time u know, you're lvl 20..and havent even completed the kryta missions/quests... no motivation after lvl 20.

I started a new char a week ago..and is already lvl 20...and havent completed a single mission in kryta or Crystal desert.....so i skipped everything and beated the game...

GW didn't meet my expectation when it comes to a good RPG. Diablo 2 still better than this game. The item/equipment in GW just suck balls....

HAHAHAHAHA! Damn, a guide to how to make a game boring! The only thing you missed was "farm 12 hours per day for a solid month with a gear-tank or invincimonk".
Well, if you make your mind up you're going to be bored by something, I guess you will be.

WoW isn't ugly?

GW is NOT an RPG. You're just the Grinding kind of guy that enjoys doing something for hours and hours to get this one rare Item. GW is not a grinding game, and It's based on skills, not equipment. A friend of mine allowed me to play on his WoW account and one day I saw that the server was full.. I mean come on. I had to wait 10 minutes to actually log in. You're paying monthly to get that? Heck, Guild Wars is free and there has not been a single time where I get a Full server message.

Another thing that isn't very fun is walking. Come on, it takes freaking forever. Sure you get a mount but that takes a huge amout of grinding which I hate. Being a warrior, I thought i'd have some sort of self-healing method but no. It forces you to either select a proffesion for it or party up. Yes, it has it's good things for those who enjoy grinding. I don't, and even though I still play it's not the kind of game I feel like playing everyday.

buying a mount doesnt take forever, ur guild can help u get the mount, u can sell things and hav heaps of money leftover when u buy the mount and the training. u dont hav to just farm and make money, u can make the money while questing since most of the quests require to kill and the rewards usually give money and items for u to sell/disenchant if u dont want it. yes warcraft is slow compared to guild wars but it has more content and the rarest items in the game are actually extremely rare to get and u cant just solo things to find em, u hav to assemble parts to make that weapon/armor.

You're obviously one of those persons who was the aol crowd, and wants it to work without a hitch 150% of the time without know how or why, and when it doesn't, rather than read the documented fixes that practically SLAP you upside the noggin, you complain about it on a forum. Read the patch download help on the site, it will fix your problem in less time than it takes a constipated man to take a shit. It's not the game. It's you.
-------------------------

I have to agree with the warrior changes comment above my post. Something has been utterly ruined on that class. I DO like, however, the way whirlwind animates now, it surrouns me in a "whirlwind" of little red swords, spinning to my tune of dervish

And the upcoming Silithid war. Oh...my...god. I did all those quests in orgrimmar for war prep, and I now have exalted reputation in all factions! I also got 4 blue items and 3 purples ones from those reward crates. SHIZZNIT!

I think I'm going to cry.

"Rather than labeling Guild Wars an MMORPG, we prefer to call it a CORPG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game)."

It's all semantics (and perspective) anyway, but it smells like an RPG to me. Geez

Also I'm pleased that I can respend some points when the Euro servers come back up, I need better talents Also I hope to get the Waypoint at Stonetalon to get me to and from places as well

I apologise for my earlier post.

Back on topic. I now have my copy of WoW, but am reluctant to install it yet as I will be working away from home for two weeks of this month. I know I get 30 days free and the monthly subscription is only 8 pound, but how can I justify losing half of that when working away from home? Do you guys think it's likely that Blizzard may introduce a different subscription scheme - maybe charging per day, or even per hour?

I was just wondering if this has been discussed in the WoW community.

Cheers

Well from what I've heard that paying a flat-rate monthly is better than hourly or PPM (Pay-Per-Minute). Well just think, how the hell can people pay it for hours or minutes on end? there's up to 31 days in a month, then cut down 24 hours and an optional 60 minutes, aaaaaand there's quite a big mess that the games devs have on.

But it could have been much worse... *Points to Everquest II and Star Wars Galaxies*

So I might be a bit harsh saying it's going to stay that way, but they have voted for monthly and it'll stay that way. Hope that's answered your question.

Oh! download the new patch (1.9 or Anh'Qiraj) from the Blizzard site as well, It's taking forever to download it elsewhere!

Is it just me, or are is the AQ prep going to absolutely DESTROY the game economy? I'm seeing stacks of LINEN selling for 2g or more on the AH. I may just do nothing but farm for the next month and get filthy stinkin' rich.

I tried out the 10day free trial from Fileplanet..I liked somethings...I disliked others..
Overall, I just wasnt impressed enough to pay $15.00 a month to keep playing.

I guess you're right. I do feel like I'm penny-pinching a bit; after all it's only 2 quid a week. I suppose a pay-as-u-go would average out way more than that anyway.

One more if you don't mind. If you're not sick of me already, then you soon will be

I'm definately an RPer, but not sure if I should go RP-Normal or RP-PVP. I don't want to be getting my butt kicked by the other faction every 5 minutes, but Normal seems a little too tame. Could you give me the lowdown on choosing a realm? Basically, I don't understand if being on a PVP realm means you have to PVP.

I'm such a noob

Here's my 2cent/comparison:

Guild Wars has no real grind to it because of the low max level, low experience gain ratio. It's close ended in that with a low max level it doesn't take long to get to a state of being stagnant. It does have great graphics but it should being an instance based game. I liked Guild Wars allot but now I'm at a point where there's nothing really to do - I have all my builds at max, guildies too for the most part so other than completely clearing UW.....nothing to really look forward to other than hanging with the guildies.

WoW - sure the graphics can be a lil toonish when it comes to armour/char looks but everything else is smokin!!! They have the griffons/bats for town-to-town travel (sweet looking) and between two of the major towns on the alliance side they have a freakin subway<--LOL are you kidding me, it ROCKS!! A plethra of different mobs, dungeons, quests, items, skills, classes, professions.
Hint: Regardless of what class you choose, you can heal yourself by selecting a profession - First Aid, which doesn't take away from the limit of 2 professions you get to choose (other two are cooking & fishing...both of which can help with health/mana). You also want to take gathering skills early on so that you can make money for yourself.....otherwise it will be a looong frustrating experience later on. Mining & Skinning or Herbalism ought to do the trick, as you'll be able to find Copper/Tin/Iron/Silver/Gold ore on your adventures and smelt the raw ore into bars and sell them in the auction houses (also good for selling items). Herbs too can be found while your out-n-about but these are best for Alchemy profession, which you'd have to drop your other profession in order to use but would at least give you the combo of being a Tank who can make healing/mana potions and later on various other types of concoctions.
Sure once you get to 60 youre capped......not for long as the cap is being raised to 70 and keep in mind that there are quite a few high level instances where you need to be 60 in order to have a chance...that and a good group. They've also added to that with the recent patch, so the fun still goes on!

As for the griefing previously mentioned...you can choose a non-pvp server if you like, or just make sure you don't cross over into contested or enemy territory on a pvp server. I had the nasty experience of crossing over at the Bulwarks (just outside Undercity) into contested territory early on...and got ganked big time!! No sweat, I learned and stayed away from that area to avoid the hassle--> I was level 12 and saw no less than 3 45+ players zoom in on me??<---I can see where ppl develop a distaste for this type of action but in WoW you do earn faction pts for snuffing out the opposite side (not sure with that big of a lvl difference). Even>
As for the monthly fee, I pay in bulk - i.e. 6months at a time so that the avg monthly cost is less. Instead of near $16, I pay $12....that's not allot.

Bottom line - 2 diff games with +s & -s on each side, one has ALLOT of content the other does not. One has better graphics but not by much really when you look at the big picture. Both have Pve & PvP, one just has more of it and more chances to do it.

If RP is your thing, stick to normal RP servers. In my experience, RPPvP servers are ALL PvP and NO RP.
